Conference on foreign ownership of real estate in the Philippines

Issues surrounding foreign ownership of Philippine properties will be among the highlights of “Real Estate and Investment Conference” to be held on September 21, 2017, at SMX Convention Center. Organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, Inc. (ICCPI), the event will bring together industry experts, government officials, local stakeholders, and foreign investors in a discussion of the elements affecting local real estate.

Among the speakers expected to shed light on the complexity of foreign ownership are EU Delegation to the Philippines Amb. Franz Jessen, who will open the conference; Lorens Ziller of the ICCPI; and Senator Francis Pangilinan of the Committee on Constitutional Amendments.

Aside from foreign ownership, other real estate topics relevant to the local property landscape will be under the microscope, namely the current status of the Philippine real estate industry, opportunities and risks in investing in Philippine real estate, and tourism and its role in sustainable real estate.

Other speakers to be expected at the event are Gulliermo Luz of the National Competitiveness Council, Secretary Mark Villar of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Randell Tiongson of the Registered Financial Planner Institute Philippines, Teresita Herbosa of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Undersecretary Alma Rita Jimenez of the Department of Tourism–Tourism Regulation, Coordination & Resource Generation, Atty. Niño Aquino of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Authority, Atty. Lloyd Christopher Lao of the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB), Andy Mañalac of Havitas Developments Corporation, Romolo Nati of Italpinas Development Corporation, and Bhavna Suresh of Lamudi Philippines. The event will be moderated by Atty. Jose Leviste III of Italpinas and Atty. Jean De Castro of ESCA Incorporated.
