In light of the favorable economic conditions in Cebu’s business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, Philippine real estate developer Megaworld has announced its plan to add more leasable office spaces in their township The Mactan Newtown.
“Megaworld is keen on expanding its office spaces for BPO companies inside The Mactan Newtown mainly because we see the significant growth of the BPO industry in Cebu. This we have observed in recent years,”Megaworld first vice president Jericho Go explained. “We can actually add up more leasable office spaces if the demand is really high.”
The over-20-hectare The Mactan Newtown is expected to comprise of 150,000 square meters of office spaces in the next three to five years, which can generate as many as 40,000 BPO employees by 2018. This, according to Go, is part of their plan to build up Mactan as the primary BPO hub of the Queen City of the South.
“Cheaper labor, abundant manpower, affordable location, and right assistance from the local government make Cebu ripe for BPO businesses,” Go said.
Already poised to occupy part of the township is the Results Companies (Results Manila), a leading provider of customer management and BPO solutions. The Mactan Newtown’s One World Center will be the home of Results Manila’s fifth call center in the country and the first outside of Metro Manila.
“Cebu is home to a great pool of talented, educated people with exceptional drive for exceeding customer expectations. We expanded our office in Cebu to allow us to diversify our locations for our clients and internal business continuity planning,” according to Results Manila vice president for facilities development and administration Kevin Betts.
“The urban landscape of The Mactan Newtown provides great opportunity for BPO companies to invest here in Cebu,” Go confirmed.
