Megaworld Corporation recently announced plans to add to its township in Western Visayas, the Iloilo Business Park, to accommodate the growing number of sales and inquiries from the IT-BPO sector.
The new developments, One Techno Place and Two Techno place, will add another 19,000 sqm of leasable space and generate 8,000 jobs to the business park. Construction of the two office towers will begin in August this year, and completion is slated for 2016.
“With the heavy influx of inquiries from BPO companies who want to be part of Iloilo Business Park, we see the urgent need to hasten the construction of more office towers to meet the strong demand,” Megaworld senior vice president Jericho P. Go said.
This year will also see the completion of three office towers: One Global Center, Two Global Center, and Richmonde Tower. Combined, the three towers are said to provide about 25,000 sqm of office space and accommodate 10,000 full-time employees. One company, US-based BPO firm Star Trek, Inc., has already started operating in Richmonde, and will launch a standalone building at Two Global Center by the end of the year.
Recently, Iloilo Business Park also opened the doors of its McDonald’s, said to be the biggest one in Iloilo City with a seating capacity of 250.
Megaworld has also started its construction of other areas of the park, namely the 1.1 kilometer commercial and retail strip Megaworld Central Mall and Festive Walk, as well as the 3,700-seater Iloilo Convention Center.
In Iloilo Business Park’s tourism side, Megaworld says Richmonde Hotel Iloilo will open next year, while Courtyard by Marriott will be completed by 2015.
