The National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC), in partnership with the CFA Society of the Philippines, will be hosting the Philippine Housing Finance Conference 2016 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel on October 6, 2016.
The Philippine Housing Finance Conference (PHFC) is a one-day event dedicated to the discussion of issues that affect and could affect the operations of the housing finance sector. With the ASEAN integration finally taking effect this year, the theme for the 2016 conference is “ASEAN Integration and the Philippine Housing Finance Market.”
The conference will feature top-notch speakers to provide insights and updates on the implications of the ASEAN financial integration to the Philippine housing finance sector.
Progress updates on ASEAN integration will be provided by Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Deputy Governor Diwa C. Guinigundo. Following the updates, Chung Chee Leong, president and CEO of Cagamas Berhad, Malaysia, and Rick M. Santos, chairman and founder of CB Richard Ellis Philippines, will discuss available housing finance instruments, particularly Islamic finance/sukuk bonds and real estate investment trusts (REIT), respectively.
Additionally, NHMFC’s president and current Asian Secondary Mortgage Market Association Chairman Dr. Felixberto U. Bustos, Jr. will tackle securitization. Assistant-Director General Rosemarie G. Edillon from the National Economic Development Authority will address the 2017 sector outlook.
The NHMFC, created in 1977, is one of the key shelter agencies under the Housing & Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC). It is mandated to develop the secondary mortgage market and provide for a strong and sustainable housing finance.
Last year, NHMFC hosted the 2nd ASEAN Fixed Income Summit, where issues and challenges in promoting liquidity and market transparency in the ASEAN region were addressed. With the theme “ASEAN, One Market,” key speakers representing investors, issuers, and regulators gave insights regarding developments in the upcoming ASEAN financial integration by 2020 through the promotion of ASEAN as a fixed income destination.
